Event for May 2005

		  Under the thread of So, what's next? and postings to the Events Discussion Forum we appear to have generated some good tangible ideas for the next event.

Whilst we decide on a more formal timetable of events it might be logical in the interim to get something together towards the end of May to build on the success of the event in March. This would then give our members the minimal expectation of a regular event every two months too look forward to.

		  Dear all,

There is still some confusion about the workgroups and how they are used. I admit I've never really explained them properly, so here it goes. It really is all a lot simpler than they may seem.

The workgroups are there so that issues requiring lots of detailed collaboration can have their own special area. It is not idea to be discussing events and the book and the constitution and.... all in the same forum. It all gets a bit confusing. These workgroups allow people to pick and choose the areas they want to focus on. For example, I'm sure there are people who aren't all that interested in the book. Instead of being flooded with book-related content, they can just steer clear of the book workgroup.

Inside each workgroup there is a selection of tools at the disposal of the group. How these tools are employed is completely up to the group itself. With this in mind, I've found, in the past, that it is best to have some leader for each workgroup who will dictate how the collaboration is carried out and which tools to use. They can then remove, or just ignore, anything they don't want. Initially Gary and Patrick are the leaders of the current workgroups, but this can easilly be changed.

The members of a workgroup are listed at the right hand side of the folder. Members can:
* Post in forums
* Edit the wiki
* Add documents within the "documents" folder

The leaders of the workgroup can do anything within the folder (add new members, change member privileges, add/delete content etc.) Leaders also have a special "email" link which allows them to email all group members as a group.

I hope this clears things up.
