So, what's next?
Dear all,
I can't help but feel that things have lost momentum somewhat, since the meeting in London. After a flurry of activity on the website, things now seem a bit too quiet.
Now that the communication and collaboration infrastructure is in place, I think we really need to focus on what events are going to happen over the next year and, in particular, the next 5 months for which we are all responsible. The new workgroup support will also allow for other activities to work concurrently with the event planning. So if the OSS book is still on the cards, people can work on that if they wish.
Today, I'll be adding a chat tool to the website. This is mainly for the benefit of the workgroups, but could also be used for other events. I'll also be creating a Mailman-based mailing list which will be the announcements list for the group. There are currently about 120 folk registered with the website and I think we have to keep them all informed about what's going on and where we are going. Finally, I'll be adding all of the committee to the "events" workgroup, with Patrick and Gary as the workgroup leaders.
