Hey all,
I've finalised two speakers for the Intro to Open Source meeting.
OS for Managers: Mark Taylor, CEO Sirius (I know Mark is already doing another meeting for us, but this talk really is his domain)
OS for Developers: Simon Phipps aka Webmink, Sun
I've asked for abstracts and biogs to be provided by the end of the month.
The meeting shall be entitled:
An Introduction to Open Source for Developers and Managers
The strapline shall be:
A meeting to introduce the key features, benefits and pit-falls of open source development to both developers and IT managers with little or no experience of the field.
(Or something like that...)
The meeting shall go a bit like this: (although this isn't finalised)
1800
Welcome and Introduction
1805
Manager Track
Developer Track
1850
Break
1900
Manager Track
Developer Track
1950
Conclusions, Thanks, Which pub shall we go to?
etc etc
So the two tracks (managerial and developer) shall run separately, but concurrently. The two are, for the most part, mutually exclusive. My idea is for the meeting to run 6pm -> 8pm in two separate rooms in Southampton St. Because of constraints on Simon's time, this meeting must be held on September 13th - this is also suitable for Mark. We have two excellent and high-profile speakers, so it would be good to get some munchies in, if we have the funds and people think its worthwhile.
