Re: draft programme and actions from Tuesday's meeting

		  Gary and all

I have spoken to Margaret Ross today and the Southampton event will be on Thursday 27th October 2005. Graham Oakes has agreed to be one of the speakers. I have yet to make a decision on the 2nd main speaker although I have a few choices in mind. Margaret tells me she recently spoken to Gary and Patrick about this event and understood they have both agreed to say a few words.

Date: Thursday 27th October 2005

The proposed title of this jointly organized BCS Open Source Software Group (OSSG) and Quality Specialist Group event is: Open Source Software Quality in Practice

The proposed punchline is: Speakers discuss their practical experience of Software Quality Management in the production of Open Source Software.

Main Speakers: (1) Graham Oakes (2) to be arranged ASAP.

Proposed time is: 0630 (Refreshments) 0700 Event start and 2030 Event ends. Possible networking buffet after the event - I can discuss this further, but think I can deal with this with some small OSSG/QS/BCS funding of say £20.

Cost: There is no cost for the venue or filming of the event or tea, coffee and biscuits which equals the 0630 Refreshments.

Venue: Southampton Institute, Herbert Collins Building, HC 024 (Refreshments & prospective buffet HC032) This venue is in walking distance of Southampton Central Railway Station, which has good links to many parts of the UK.

Crowd capacity - I need to check the limit, but I think due to the size of the venue it may not be necessary to limit this. Usually events held here are open to all and they do not have to pre-register. I think more about the buffet regarding this.

Organizers:
Quality Specialist Group: Margaret Ross <margaret.ross@solent.ac.uk>
OSSG: Mark Elkins <mark_elkins@bcs.org>

Margaret also has in mind a 2nd event with OSSG in the next year.
